how we started

our history

Resurrection Family Church began meeting December 1991, with 16 people in attendance. The first official service was held January 1, 1992, with 40 people attending (twenty-one adults and nineteen children). Sunday morning services were held in the Senior Citizens Building at the Brown Penn. Sunday evening home group was held at a member’s home. Wednesday evenings RFC met at Sunny Valley for worship. In September 1992, we moved to the Hwy 70 location with sixty-three attending our first Sunday service. We remained at this location until November 1997, at which time we moved our services to First Church of God. January 1998, Hickory High became our home for one year, during which time we became totally mobile.

On May 31, 2004, Apostle Steve Deitz formally announced that Resurrection Family Church was changing its name to Resurrection International Church. This name change better identified the call of the church to the nations. The current name Resurrection Church – Hickory was adopted in 2016.
